Ferroli implemented an ESG strategy worldwide to create value for the company and its stakeholders and to align with the new European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)

On an ethical, social and environmental-conscious world, companies are called to integrate sustainability principles into their practices and their business models. Companies are not supposed to meet Sustainable principles by only correcting production models or traditional products and services.

Ferroli implemented an ESG strategy to meet this goal: to innovate activities, products, processes, the relationship with clients, partners, suppliers and its own organization. Indeed, Ferroli’s goal is to create value not only for the company itself, but also for stakeholders and the society as a whole. Its strategy wishes to reduce risks, to improve the company’s reputation and increase the company’s interest profile towards investors.

Ferroli enhanced ESG Department in 2024 with the aim of aligning to the European “Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive” but already started its own projects.

Ferroli decided to get an overview of the emissions produced by the Group, involving all plants at the same level. That’s why Scope 1 and 2 were calculated for all plants worldwide, covering emission linked to the Company’s energy consumptions. Once Scope 1 and 2 emissions are calculated, hotspots of emissions were detected and opportunities for emission reduction were identified through the decarbonization plan. Ferroli is now launching the Product Carbon Footprint, starting from its condensing wall-hung boiler, the most important and sold product in the Italian market. Data collection will involve energy consumption, transport, input materials, waste, all referred to the functional unit of the product. The usage of the product by the end user will also be considered, following the Life Cycle Assessment approach. Ferroli is following the reference standard for calculation, UNI EN ISO 14067, with a focus on certifying the whole finished assessment.

Simultaneously, Ferroli decided to start the ESG Assessment to perform a picture of the Company from the perspective of sustainability matters: the metrics constitute a basis for analyzing the performance of the Company together with plans, existing targets and strategies. Ferroli will collect quantitative and qualitative information with the aim of collecting and analyze indicators which will be disclosed in the Sustainability Report, collect information and documentation which will be included in the Ecovadis rating, and identify areas of improvement as Sustainability Plan basis.

All these projects, together with many others, will help the Company to perform the materiality and impacts analysis and to define all the areas of improvement and strengths that should be communicated to all stakeholders.
