The Decarbonization Plan in Ferroli Italy

April, 2025

In our Decarbonization Plan, we included Scope 1&2 emissions reduction, working on the efficiency of utilities / production lines using fossil fuels to reduce the consumption of energy carriers, but also on installations that consume/produce electricity

After the calculation of Scope 1&2 with the 2023 baseline, Ferroli carried out a Decarbonization Plan on Ferroli italians main sites, with the goal of reducing corporate emissions through a strategic and measured approach. In our Decarbonization Plan, we included Scope 1&2 emissions reduction, working on the efficiency of utilities / production lines using fossil fuels to reduce the consumption of energy carriers, but also on installations that consume/produce electricity.

The project started with the perimeter definition and the selection of sites for analysis, such as production facilities and operational sites. We then already performed an assessment of Scope 1&2 emissions to analyze available energy audits and any existing energy efficiency measures. Together with our Consultants Fedabo, we did on-site inspections to identify energy efficiency interventions and discussions with Ferroli staff. We drafted a plan to propose actions and quantifications of emissions’ savings, giving priority to some interventions among others.

The Sustainability Team analyzed the various proposed interventions and prioritized them to identify the most interesting ones to explore in detail and subsequently implement them. Overall, they resulted in 78 interventions on different categories: self-production, energy efficiency actions on electricity, compressed air and natural gas, mobility, carbon offsetting and other energy efficiency. We approved 20 interventions and have already begun implementing some the proposals with higher priority.

The implementation of the interventions considered only as “approved” would lead to the following emission reductions:

In particular, in San Bonifacio, those reductions are composed of 42 tCO2e for Scope 1 and 224 tCO2e for Scope2 from sites under review. The reduction scenario is composed as follows:

In Villanova emissions reductions are composed of 11 tCO2e for Scope 1 and of 298 tCO2e for Scope2 for a 30% total reduction:

The reduction scenario is composed as follows:

The implementation of interventions in Casole are composed of 166,7 tCO2e of Scope2 and would lead to the following emission reductions:

They are composed as follows:

As already mentioned, for its Decarbonization Plan, Ferroli identified some interventions as high priority. These include photovoltaic panels installation in all Italian sites, relamping search for and elimination of compressed air leaks in production plants, power quality systems to be installed in POD power centers and the elimination of diesel forklifts.
